About me

Sonja Ezergailis is an experienced healthcare professional, having worked within the NHS and within charities for the last 20 years and has held senior leadership and management roles. She has a passion for the outdoors and exploring remote and wild places. Sonja loves journeying by kayak and living simply, and her mountain and sea based adventures inspired her to explore what was really important in life.

She has worked as a Project Manager for Raleigh International in Patagonia leading and coaching young people, providing them with challenge and opportunities for personal growth and development and as freelance instructor and trainer in the Outdoors. She has extensively coached and mentored others in their personal development within both the NHS and the voluntary sector.

In 2007 Sonja and her partner Roger relocated to North Wales and established Coastal Spirit www.coastalspirit.com, a sea kayaking company offering sea kayaking courses, coaching, training, and bespoke guided expeditions & journeys.

Sonja holds a Postgraduate Masters Level Certificate in Executive Coaching and Leadership Mentoring accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). Sonja’s coaching experience relates to more than just the coaching training that she has had. Sonja has a genuine interest in helping people learn and develop and her work as a coach is informed by her own personal and professional experiences of working with others within a broad variety of environments including the NHS, voluntary sector, and outdoor activity provision.

Sonja believes that by becoming more self-aware we become more effective as members of teams and as leaders and within our own individual lives. Coaching can help us to take responsibility for ourselves and our actions and be proactive in how we choose to respond to situations within life.
